A Stronger Voice for Childcare Providers
The Coalition of Childcare Providers of Nigeria (CCPN) is a growing professional network of childcare providers committed to improving the quality, professionalism and recognition of community childcare in Nigeria.
The Coalition emerged from the community of caregivers trained and supported through the Community Childcare Project. Many of these providers wanted the learning and relationships developed through CCP to continue beyond individual training cohorts.
Why a coalition?
Childcare providers are central to the development and wellbeing of young children, yet many community providers work with limited access to professional development, resources, networks and opportunities to influence the systems that affect their work.
CCPN provides a platform for providers to:
1. Learn from one another.
2. Share practical solutions and experiences.
3. Access continuing professional development.
4. Promote good childcare practices.
5. Build professional relationships.
6. Strengthen parent and community trust.
7. Advocate collectively for better childcare systems.
8. Identify opportunities for collaboration and business development.
9. Contribute their experience to conversations about childcare policy and practice.
Programme feedback shows that participating providers value professional networking, peer learning, parent referrals, business opportunities, advocacy support and peer support as important benefits of belonging to the network.
From beneficiaries to leaders
CCPN reflects an important principle of our work: communities should not only benefit from solutions—they should help shape and lead them.
Caregivers who began as beneficiaries of CCP have become volunteers, peer supporters and leaders within the childcare community. The Coalition provides a pathway for this leadership to grow.
